The Houston Astros traded Dexter Fowler to the Cubs for infielder Luis Valbuena and right hander Dan Straily. 28 year old Fowler, hit 276 eight home runs and 35 RBIs last year for the Astros. The Astros acquired him from the Rockies last season its being reported that he asked for $10.8 million last week for arbitration and was offered $8.5 million. He is eligible for free agency after this season.
As for Valbubuena the 29 year old plays third base he hit .249 with 33 doubles 16 home runs and 51 RBIs. He agreed to a $4.2 million one year contract and can become a free agent after the 2016 World Series.
Finally Straily the 26 year old was 1-3 with a 6.75 ERA last season in eight starts for the Athletics and the Cubs, he was 10-8 for the Athletics in 2013.
