Free agent pitcher Max Scherzer is a free agent nomore as he singed a seven year contract with the Washington Nationals worth $210 million. According to reports Scherzer will recieve $15 million annually for the next 14 years. The deal also includes and $50 million singing bonus.
According to ESPN the Nationals wouldn't have finanical flexibility to sign Scherzer unless they have a trade for Jordan Zimmerman or Ian Desmond.
The 30 year old right hander is 91-50 with a 3.58 ERA in seven seasons with Arizona and Detroit. He won the 2013 American League Cy Young award and he has made the All Star Game the last two seasons.
He went 18-5 with a 3.15 ERA in 2014 he turned down an offer from Detroit this past March worth $144 million. So the pitching staff for the defending NL East Champions is Stephen Strasburg, Jordan Zimmerman, Doug Fister, Gio Gonzalez, and Tanner Roark so adding Scherzer made them even better and a good team to watch out for.
