According to Mlb.com Minnesota Twins pitcher Ervin Santana is suspended 80 games for violating MLB's substance abuse policy. Santana singed the richest free agent deal in club history but he tested positive for Stanozolol.
The Twins singed Santana to a four year $55 million dollar deal but will be out for half the year now because of this. Santana who is 32 was behind the number 2 starter after right handed starter Phil Hughes and was supposed to pitch on April 13 at Target Field.
With Santana out right hander Mike Pelfey will take his place. Santana has a career 4.72 ERA in ten seasons with the Angles, Royals, and Braves. He has made 30 starts in five straight seasons, and seven of last nine.
