Cole Hamels has reported to the Phillies Spring Training but is being open to being traded to a team that wants him, and the Redsox are on the top of the list According to Boston.com he did an interview with USA Today Sports saying he is not demanding a trade but it might be best if him and the organization moves on.
The Phillies have traded Jimmy Rollins to the Dodgers this offseason, and Marlon Byrd to the Reds. Hamels has been offered from several teams this winter including the Redsox. But the team is refusing to budge in demanding top talent.
Hamels went on to say that he would wave his no-trade clause to sign with the Redsox. The Phillies have won five straight National League East titles from 2007-2011 that included two NL Pennants and a World Series Championship. The Redsox would be smart on trading for Hamels right now after losing Lester to the Cubs they lack an ace and Hamels would be the perfect fit.
